The ASTD prides itself on being a society that is dedicated to talent development in Africa. However, if we really want to make a difference in ‘raising the bar’ in terms of leadership, we actively need to start addressing the current human capital and talent challenges in a total different way to ensure that we are aligning ourselves to the requirements of the market.
In line with this, and after listening to the market, as a management team, we have taken a decision to halt all ongoing projects, including the annual conference, ASTD ICE Africa 2016, and re-evaluate market requirements and how ASTD should respond to these. Our objective is to ensure ASTD’s unique value proposition remains and that we are able to redesign our offerings to ensure that we truly have the ability to bring core role-players together in all aspects of the talent life cycle and in the context of current and future talent landscapes.
We have not undertaken this decision lightly, and we truly feel that this decision will allow us the opportunity to explore and examine the best way forward and begin 2017 with a new vision and format, one that is defined by key market differentiators and strong partners and sponsors.
